Henna Tattoos

Q: What is Henna?
A:  Henna comes in a powder form that is made from crushed leaves of a henna plant.  It is mixed with all natural teas and oils to make a Henna Paste.  Henna has been used for centuries in the Mid Eastern cultures to adorn the body for ceremonial events.  It has become more recognized in the American Culture over the past years as a temporary form of tattooing and hair dyes.  It is drawn in a free hand fashion, making up intricate designs and symbols.
Once the paste is removed you will have a beautiful reddish brown design.  Give your Henna 24-48 hours to reach it's peak coloration.

Q: How long does it last?
A:  Henna Tattoos will last from 1-3 weeks depending care, where on the body you have your henna, and your body chemistry.  From experience hands and feet stain the darkest and lasts the longest.

Q: How do I care from my Henna Tattoo?
A: It is recommended to keep the Henna paste on from 2-8 hours.  The longer you leave your paste on, the longer and darker your henna tattoo will last.  When removing your henna paste, use an all natural oil such as olive oil.  Avoid getting your Henna Tattoo wet for 24 hours.  To avoid premature fading, keep your Henna design cover with vaseline  when getting it wet.

Q: How long does it take to dry?
A:  Depending on the design, it will take 5-20minutes to dry.  It is then sealed with a lemon/sugar mixture to help keep the paste on your skin.

Q:  Is Henna safe?
A:  100% Brown henna is safe.  It is the most natural form of body adornment.  Please avoid at all times artists who use black henna.   Black henna is not Henna,  a chemical called PPD is added which can cause skin scarring similar to a chemical burn.
